Hi Stephen. I know you concentrate your work on more exotic languages but I have a hunch you're pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Spanish too. Right now I'm in Honduras and was recently attacked by sandflies. A Honduran friend told me in Spanish they are called jenje but I didn't ask him to spell it and as you know it could be spelled several ways. My friend did tell me he thought it might not be "proper" Spanish. The online RAE and Googling for various spellings in the Honduras domain or in combination with the English spellings all lead nowhere. Hence I'd like to humbly ask your help in case you know or have a fat Spanish-English dictionary. Thanks. — Hippietrail 17:43, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

- Widsith is right, it’s spelt jején. However, I don’t think it’s really the right term. Sand fly itself is rather ambiguous and means different things in different places. To me, los jejenes are gnats or mosquitos. For sand fly, I would say mosquito simúlido. You’d really need to have the scientific name to pin it down accurately. —Stephen 17:59, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
