Etymology edit

Ven is first attested with certainty as venschen kirchaven in 1381. Zelderheide is first attested as Zeldersche Heide in 1869. Ven is derived from ven (small pool in a forest or heathland), while Zelderheide is a compound derived from the toponym Zelder and heide (heath, heathland).
