Versailler
German edit
Etymology edit
From Versailles + -er.
Pronunciation edit
- IPA(key): /vɛrˈsaɪ̯ər/, /vɛrˈzaɪ̯ər/, [vɛʁˈsaɪ̯.ɐ], [vɛɐ̯-], [ʋ-], [-ˈzaɪ̯.ɐ]
- While /s/ is now most usual, the form with /z/ appears to remain somewhat commoner in this adjective than in the underlying proper noun.
