These are the rules concerning transliteration in Shan entries. Wiktionary's system for the transliteration of the Myanmar abugida for Shan corresponds mostly to the system used in Omniglot.

The abugida consists of initials, medials, vowels and finals []

When words with more than one syllable is used, spaces are used to distinguish each syllable; e.g., လွင်ႈလုၵ်ႉၽိုၼ်ႉ (lāung lṵ̂k phṵ̂en), သၢမ်လႅမ်ထွင်းၶမ်း (sǎam lěm tháung khám).
