How does page 1 look? edit

Seems reasonable enough. --Dangherous 09:55, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

We do need some sort of tutorial. However, this is simply an import from Wikipedia which contradicts our policies a lot and thus does no good to the newbies who read and follow this (and get blocked because of it). Either a new, proper tutorial should be written or this should be deleted. -- Prince Kassad 20:45, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if you're nominating just this page or the linked pages as well (which aren't subpages). Anyway keep. You make the argument yourself, we can just clean it up and keep it. Mglovesfun (talk) 20:56, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Cleaning up is essentially a complete rewrite. I mean, if it still says you should be bold and that you should rewrite entries with L5 headings, I don't think you can fix it so it actually has any content left. And yes I implicitely also meant the subpages. -- Prince Kassad 20:58, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Looks like the cleanup has already started to me. I mean how is the stuff about edit conflicts and minor edits not helpful? It even uses terms like "definition" and "translation" rather than Wikipedia stuff. Mglovesfun (talk) 16:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Where is the rfd tag in the entry? Nothing should be deleted without that tag having been in the entry for at least a week.
Keep We can ill afford to delete any content of the kind that we seem to have so much difficulty producing. We need more newbies to do all the work that everyone keeps proposing. Unless every newbie is to be individually mentored, we need help and tutorials on a larger scale. DCDuring TALK * Holiday Greetings! 15:21, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
This issue has come up before (recently in fact). The Tutorial is supposed to be general "how to edit in a wiki" stuff, and not be too specific to any one project. So, while we do want to be sure it doesn't contradict our policies and procedures, we do not want to include a lot of Wiktionary-specific style and information. Use the KISS principle. --EncycloPetey 15:31, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Already move to WT:RFC, ergo kept. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:46, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Before a rewrite, we should remove any sentences (not headings) that actually contradict any policy, practice, or consensus, documented or not. See WT:RFDO#Wiktionary:Tutorial. DCDuring TALK * Holiday Greetings! 15:17, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just checked all the pages; nothing jumped out at me as out-of-date or contrary-to-current-policy, though I may have missed something. - -sche (discuss) 16:44, 3 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Return to the project page "Tutorial".
