Maybe from Vulgar Latin *accēnāre (to wait until the evening), originally meaning "to wait until the time of dinner". For the rhotacism of the invervocalic nasal, compare fereastră from Latin fenestra but it is uncommon in Romanian, especially without cause of dissimilation.
