adasismo
Esperanto
editEtymology
edit-ad- + -as + -ismo. Mockery of a tendency in early and/or low-quality Esperanto poetry to make verbs rhyme by adding the suffix -ad-, so that they would all end in -adas etc. Coined by Antoni Grabowski ca. 1910.
Pronunciation
editNoun
editadasismo (accusative singular adasismon, plural adasismoj, accusative plural adasismojn)
- (poetry, derogatory) rhyming by using the same suffix on two or more words
- 2002, Jorge Camacho, "Arto poetika", La Ondo de Esperanto, 2002 issue 6 (92):
- Krom adasismoj, abundas ankaŭ rimokrimoj similaj al la praparo koro/doloro (“perloj/merloj” sur p. 54, kie mi volonte ŝanĝus “l” al “d”) kaj, ĉefe, rimoj strasaj.
- Apart from suffix rhymes, it also abounds with rhyme crimes similar to the clichéd koro/doloro ("perloj/merloj" on page 54, where I would willingly change "l" to "d") and generally cheap rhymes.
- Synonym: sufiksrimo
