From Andalusian Arabic [script needed] ‎(alifríz), from Arabic إِفْرِيز ‎(ʾifrīz), apocope of Classical Syriac ܦܪܝܙܘܡܐ ‎(pərīzōmāʾ), from Ancient Greek περίζωμα ‎(perízōma, girdle).
