Etymology edit

From anompa +‎ -li (active verb forming suffix). Note that anompa must have originally also been a neutral verb for it to have been suffixed with -li, it likely meant something like "to be spoken" or "to be said". The second 'o' is likely because of assimilation. Compare Choctaw anompoli.

Verb edit

  2. (active voice, intransitive) to coo, to babble (of babies or young children)
