cellspot (plural cellspots)

(entomology) A circular marking found on the wings of some butterflies and moths; orbicular stigma.

  A heavily suffused fuscous median fascia separates the cellspots and widens towards the hindmargin where it fuses with the postmedian fascia

  the hindwings are a little narrower and longer the light maculation of the upperside of the forewing is markedly reduced and the cellspot only faintly suggested.
