From Ancient Greek χρῶμα (khrôma, “colour”) and ὕλη (húlē, “matter”).

Noun

chromule (countable and uncountable, plural chromules)

(botany, dated) Any colouring matter in plants other than chlorophyll, and especially in the petals.
