From Old French comedie, from Latin cōmoedia, from Ancient Greek κωμῳδία (kōmōidía), from κῶμος (kômos, revel, carousing) + either ᾠδή (ōidḗ, song) or ἀοιδός (aoidós, singer, bard), both from ἀείδω (aeídō, to sing).
