Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish طاملامق (damlamak, to drip), from Old Anatolian Turkish طمـ (tam-, to drip), Old Turkic [script needed] (tam-, to drip).[1] Compare Turkmen dammak (to drip), Uzbek tommoq (to drip).

damlamak (third-person singular simple present damlar)

  1. (intransitive) to drip, trickle
    Damlaya damlaya göl olur.A little at a time makes a lot. (A proverb. Lit. dripping and dripping it makes a lake.)
