From Ancient Greek ἐπι- (epi-, upon) +‎ μέρος (méros, a part).

Noun edit

epimeron (plural epimera)

  1. (zoology) In crustaceans, the part of the side of a somite external to the basal joint of each appendage.
  2. (entomology) In insects, the lateral piece behind the episternum.
