Etymology

A loanword from a neighboring language, originated from a word for trees from the Sindora genus, known for their timber. Compare Khmer ក្រកោះ (krɑkɑh), កកោះ (kɑkɑh). Doublet of gụ and gõ.

Mostly displaced native săng.
