From *gabë, Proto-Albanian *gaubā, from Proto-Indo-European *gʰeub(ʰ)- ‎(to bend, move). Close to Lithuanian gaubiù, gaũbti ‎(cover, wrap up, curve), Old Norse goppa ‎(jump up and down, swing) and Russian губи́ть ‎(gubítʹ, to wreck)[1].
