  1. A species of bamboo with golden-yellow stems, Phyllostachys aurea, which is native to Fujian and Zhejiang in China and widely cultivated as an ornamental wherever the climate is warm enough.
  2. Cultivated varieties of a Southeast Asian species of bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris), that also have golden-yellow stems.
