hashrate (plural hashrates)

(computing, cryptocurrencies) The number of proof of work hashes that a mining computer can make in a given period of time, usually a second.

  Specialized hardware like a GPU is designed to do large numbers of small tasks very quickly, and so excel at hashing: typically a single GPU can produce a hashrate at least ten times faster than that of a single CPU.
