Swedish edit

Etymology edit

From earlier hejsa, borrowed from German heisa. The -n ending might have been added by analogy to words like jajamänsan, where -san is likely a contraction of "sa(de) han" (he said).

Interjection edit

hejsan

  1. hey; hi

Usage notes edit

An informal greeting, and rarely used in texts.
