      The right hemi-abdominal ganglion, which appears to be the homologue of the supraintestinal ganglion of more primitive opisthobranchs, develops above the esophagus. The left hemi-abdominal ganglion develops below the esophagus and is divisible into a rostral and a caudal part by the appearance of two clusters of neurons , each surrounding a central medulla of neuropile.
