From Proto-Albanian *ϑōp-, * ̊tśap-, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱeh3-(i-) 'to sharpen'. (Indirect) cognate to Latin cippus (pale, peak, point). Plural k(ë)thapë. A formation with the prefix k(ë)-[1].
