From Ottoman Turkish قیلمق (kılmak, to do, perform), from Proto-Turkic *kïl- (to do, make).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰴𐰃𐰞 (qïl-, to create).

  1. (transitive, auxiliary) to make, create
    Tanrı insanoğlunu acımasız kılmış.God created humankind as cruel beings.
    Buraya gelmeye karar kıldı.He made a decision to come here.
  2. (by extension) to perform
    O camide Tanrı'ya namaz kıldı.S/he prayed (lit.: performed (a) prayer) to God.
