kiosk (news stand) +‎ välta (to tip; to turn over) +‎ -are (-er); literally a "news stand-tipper". The term was coined in the 1970s by Arne Sundberg, editor-in-chief of Veckorevyn, a weekly magazine aimed at young women.[1]
