Etymology

edit

From klobuk +‎ -jar, from Proto-Slavic *klobukъ, from a Turkic language. Attested as Old Church Slavonic клобꙋчарь (klobučarĭ) ("Стрѣзо клобоучарь сь дѣтию") in Stefan Dušan's deed of gift to Hilandar ca. 1300.[1] The accent klòbučār is a modern formation from klòbūk + -jār, preserving the accent of the base word and shortening the middle syllable.[2] The accent klobùčār is developed from the archaic form where the suffix had the dominant accent: klobučãr > klobučȃr > klobùčār.[3]
