From Proto-Albanian * ̊kurā, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)keuh₁- (“to cover (over), wrap (up)”). Cognate to Ancient Greek σκύλος (skúlos, “fell, pell, rind”), Latin corium (“leather, skin”). Related to lakur (“skin”) (now dialectal). See also lakuriq.
