editCalque of Chinese 五旬節/五旬节 (Wǔxúnjié, literally “Fifth-10-Days Festival”), with tuần (“7 days”) used with its Vietnamese meaning, hence ngũ (“five”) was changed to thất (“seven”) to yield 49 days instead, which is close enough to 50.
