lainhuuto
Finnish edit
Etymology edit
Loan translation (lain + huuto) of Swedish uppbud, as shown in the original Swedish and the Finnish translation of the Civil Code of 1734, which required that changes of property ownership be publicly announced at the town hall on three Mondays four weeks apart from each other before the change became final in the eyes of the law. So the current name of this process of registering property ownership still refers to the public proclamation similar to banns of marriage that was required long ago.
