  1. Alternative form of landshark.
    • 2012, Robert Consedine, Joana Consedine, Healing Our History, page 202:
      The 'Right of Pre-emption', which made the Crown the sold land agent, was included in the Treaty in order that the Crown could protect Maori from land sharks. Maori were not allowed to sell directly to settlers. But in the event the Crown became the biggest land shark of all.
  2. (fantasy) Any shark-like creature that dwells on land.
