- behind, at the back of
- Malantaŭ la domo estas eta ĝardeno. ― Behind the house there is a little garden.
- Lasu min meti kusenon malantaŭ vian dorson. ― Let me put a cushion behind your back.
Usage notes edit
Unlike antaŭ (“in front of; before, prior to”) and its derivatives, malantaŭ and its derivatives are restricted to spatial meanings (“behind, at the rear”); for expressions of time (“after, following”), post is used.
