editmanlift (plural manlifts)
- A permanently installed device used in place of an elevator, consisting of a series of handle-and-step groups attached to a vertical conveyor, and used to transport people, typically in an industrial environment.
manlift (sense 2)
Usage notes
editA manlift (sense 2) is differentiated from a cherry picker in that the manlift is usually mounted on a small piece of equipment and the cage or bucket is close to the ground. A cherry picker is always mounted on a truck or other vehicle, and it can reach much higher.
