From Ottoman Turkish معروضات (maruzat), plural of معروض (maruz), from Arabic مَعْرُوض (maʕrūḍ), passive participle of عَرَضَ (ʕaraḍa, to appear, happen, show). Formally the Arabic plural of maruz. Compare Azerbaijani məruzə.
