A borrowing from Semitic; compare Hebrew מִנְחָה (minḥā, “gift offering, afternoon prayer”), Arabic مِنْحَة (minḥa, “gift”), Phoenician 𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤕 (mnḥt), Ge'ez መሐና (mäḥäna).
