Etymology edit

From moɗ- +‎ -u +‎ -gol. Ultimately from Proto-Fula-Serer *mʊd/ɗ (to swallow), whence also Serer mud (to drink a liquid from a large vessel). Likely also related to Proto-Fula-Serer *muɗ (to eat something starchy)[1]
