edit- As for Tonal Class, Armstrong (1940) classifies this term into ðiimbo class which includes thimbũ, thani, gĩthitũ, itũũra (pl. matũũra), kĩratũ, mũbira, etc.[1] Benson (1964) classifies this term into Class 10 with a trisyllabic stem, together with gĩting'ũri, ndigithũ, kĩĩgunyĩ, and so on.
- Yukawa (1981, 1985) classifies this term into groups including mũthũ, mũcibi, gĩkabũ (pl. ikabũ), njata, mũthee, ihũa (pl. mahũa), ithanwa, kang'aurũ, ndarathini (“a kind of fruit”), Gĩgĩkũyũ in common.[2][3]
