Etymology

From n- + foarficã, or possibly from Vulgar Latin, Late Latin forficō (with the Aromaian prefix n- added), from Latin forfex. Compare Romanian forfeca, foarfec; cf. also Sardinian forfigare, Asturian aforfegar.
