From Old Albanian *engushullonj, borrowed through Vulgar Latin from Latin consōlō.[1][2]

  1. to comfort, console
    E ngushëlloi me fjalë të mira.
    He/she comforted him/her with good words.
  2. to condole
    Shkuam për t'i ngushëlluar pasi iu vdiqi ati.
    We went to console them after their father died.
