Etymology edit

From Proto-Hmong-Mien *mblet (tongue), likely borrowed from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *m/s/g-ljak (to lick). Cognate with Iu Mien mbietc. Compare Old Chinese (OC *ɦbljed, “tongue”).[1]
