Swedish edit

Etymology edit

nu (now) +‎ jävlar (damn). Probably a relatively newer construction, because no other Scandinavian language has a similar phrase (except when it is humorously used as an unadapted borrowing in Norwegian).

Interjection edit

nu jävlar

  1. (colloquial) Said before something is going to happen or be done, usually very fast and/or dangerous, or before somebody is going to do a tough (part of) work

    Nu jävlar kör vi, grabbar!
    Let's bloody go, boys!
