Etymology edit
nu (“now”) + jävlar (“damn”). Probably a relatively newer construction, because no other Scandinavian language has a similar phrase (except when it is humorously used as an unadapted borrowing in Norwegian).

- (colloquial) Said before something is going to happen or be done, usually very fast and/or dangerous, or before somebody is going to do a tough (part of) work
