overbloom (third-person singular simple present overblooms, present participle overblooming, simple past and past participle overbloomed)

  1. (botany) To produce an excessive amount of flowers or algae.
    • 2004, Robert P. Marzec, The Mid-Atlantic Region, page 83:
Coupled with sewage, the unnatural intensity of these nutrients makes the algae in the bay overbloom, and too much algae in turn blocks sunlight.
