Compound of park +‎ run. The first parkrun event, originally known as the "Bushy Park Time Trial", was founded by Paul Sinton-Hewitt in 2004 but only adopted the name "parkrun" in 2008.

parkrun (countable and uncountable, plural parkruns)

An informal weekly 5 km (2 km for junior parkrun) running event that takes place in a park or similar location.
