Etymology

From Polak (Pole) +‎ -o- +‎ żerca (eater) +‎ -stwo (-ness, -hood). Originally coined as a term for the anti-Polish politic of chancellor of Prussia Otto von Bismarck. Nowadays, the term is used for all types of anti-Polish sentiment. Compare ludożerstwo (anthropophagy).
