Etymology

From porn (“pornography”) +‎ tube (“a television”). Probably originates from the tendency of early pornographic video-sharing websites to model their names after YouTube (“an American video-sharing website”), such as Xtube (launched 12 March 2006), RedTube (25 April 2007) and Tube8 (2007).
