puhde
Finnish edit
Etymology edit
From Proto-Finnic *puktëk, from Proto-Finno-Ugric *pukta- (“to shoo”), the semantic development is likely "to shoo" > "to wake (someone) up" > "time of waking up" > "dawn" > "twilight". Compare Erzya пувтамс (puvtams, “to wake up”).
