pyro- +‎ -tron

Noun edit

pyrotron (plural pyrotrons)

  1. (physics) A magnetic mirror.
  2. A notional subatomic particle invented to explain cases of human spontaneous combustion.
    • 2005, James H. Hall, Practically Profound, page XIX:
Spontaneous combustion may sound like “no cause at all;” but it isn't, except, perhaps, for people who allegedly ignite while watching TV. Actually, even for that kind of urban myth, causation is presumed: pyrotrons, of course.
