From Greek ρωμαίικος (romaíikos), from ρωμαϊκός (romaïkós), from Ancient Greek Ῥωμαϊκός (Rhōmaïkós). Cf. Koine Ῥωμαῖος (Rhōmaîos), meaning "Roman".
