Verb edit

saisinko

  1. first-person singular present conditional of saada (with enclitic -ko)
    Saisinko ruokalistan?
    Saisinko ruokalistan, kiitos?
Could I have the menu, please?

Usage notes edit

When asking for something, conditional tense is regarded as more polite than indicative. The equivalent of "please" (olkaa hyvä) is relatively seldom used to finish the sentence. More likely a Finn would say kiitos (thank you) in the end, as if thanking in advance for the expected service.
