Tagalog edit

Etymology edit

Pseudo-Hispanism, derived from English scientist, influenced by Spanish -ista. Almario (2014)[1] suggests that this word was coined in order to avoid the ambiguity of an adjective or a noun present in the word siyentipiko, but the existence of other pseudo-Hispanisms such as antropolohista, biyolohista, and sosyolohista makes this unlikely.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /sienˈtista/, [ʃɛnˈtis.tɐ]
  • Hyphenation: si‧yen‧tis‧ta

Noun edit

siyentista (Baybayin spelling ᜐᜒᜌᜒᜈ᜔ᜆᜒᜐ᜔ᜆ)
