From *tägällä, the adessive case of *täkä- (the root of tämä (“this”) extended with -ka; found in täkäläinen). Compare Erzya тия (ťija, “here”), тевеле (ťeveľe, “on this side”).

Usage notes edit
The difference between täällä and tässä depends on the context. Usually tässä implies a more precise or exact location than täällä. In some other cases, tässä is used when describing a location in which the speaker and listener are nearby, and täällä is used when the listener is far away.
