Estonian edit
Etymology edit
Cognate to Livonian vēna (“port, Daugava”). Compare Finnish väylä and Proto-Slavic *dveinā (“the river Daugava”). Also compare Finnish väinä, but this similarity in both form and meaning is not mentioned by EES. This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term.
