valtti
Finnish edit
Etymology edit
Most likely borrowed from Swedish valt, the supine of välja (“to choose, elect”), as in many card games the trump suit is nominated. Has also been compared with archaic Norwegian velt and Danish vælt, with dialectal variant valt in the latter, both ultimately from Old Norse velta (“to roll over, turn over”). Alternatively borrowed from Middle Low German [Term?].
